Palaj, Gandhinagar: Ms Deepika Soni, a BTech student in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), has been awarded the prestigious Cargill Global Scholarship for the year 2019-20. Cargill, a US Agri & Food conglomerate, in association with the Institute of International Education (IIE), a not-for-profit organization who administers more than 250 education and scholarship programs; has set up the competition cycle of the Cargill Global Scholars Program (CGSP) in five countries including India to help build future potential leaders. Only 10 second-year undergraduate students from all over India make it to the Cargill Global Scholars Program every year.

As a recipient of the scholarship, Deepika will receive scholarship award of up to $2,500 USD (Rs. 1.73 lakh) per year for up to two years. Besides, she will get academic and professional guidance, leadership development opportunities through seminars, networking events, case study presentations and one-on-one mentoring programs.

Sharing her thoughts on receiving the prestigious scholarship, Ms Deepika Soni said, “I feel extremely proud and happy about getting selected as one of the Cargill Global Scholar for this year. Besides receiving the scholarship money for 2 years, it will also help me to get a global perspective on the issues we are currently struggling with and help me do my bit. I will be attending an In-Country Seminar this year in September and a Global Seminar next year around the same time. I look forward to this opportunity and am enthusiastic and excited to meet my fellow scholars from all over India and the world as well!”
