Mumbai: The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute, the global association of investment management professionals, will hold June term exam for all three levels on 03 June 2017. The CFA aspirants across the globe are busy in giving final touch to their exam preparation strategy. Finance and investment professionals seek the CFA designation to improve their understanding of the market and enhance their career and professional prospects in term of higher salary.

To earn the CFA charter, candidates must pass all three levels of exam (successful candidates often report dedicating in excess of 300 hours of study per level); meet the work experience requirements of four years in the investment industry; sign a commitment to abide by the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct; apply to a CFA Institute society; and become a member of CFA Institute. Here, SkillOutlook presents the historical pass rate trends of CFA Exam for all levels.

As per CFA Institute website, over the last ten years (2007-16), around 16 lakh candidates appeared CFA Exam (all levels). The overall average  pass percentage of CFA Exam (all levels) remained at 42% for the same period.  For the last ten year, the average pass rate has been 40% for CFA Level I, 43% for CFA Level II and 51% for CFA Level III.

In December 2016 Exam, out of the 59,627 candidates that took the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level I exam, 43% have passed. The December 2016 exam saw continued growth with an increase of 14 percent from the previous year in the number of Level I candidates tested for the CFA Program, a globally recognized, graduate level curriculum that links theory and practice with real-world investment analysis, and emphasizes the highest ethical standards.

In June 2016 Exam, out of more than 1.37 Lakh appeared candidates for all levels of exam, 46% cleared the exam. At CFA Level I, pass rate was 43% while for Level II and Level III pass rates were 46% and 54%, respectively .

The CFA Program curriculum develops knowledge and competencies that investment professionals deem necessary in today’s ever changing marketplace. It covers ethical and professional standards, securities analysis and valuation, international financial statement analysis, quantitative methods, economics, corporate finance, portfolio management, wealth management and portfolio analysis. CFA Institute has over 148,000 members in 163 countries and territories, including 142,000 CFA charterholders, and 148 member societies.
