New Delhi, 15 July 2020: A low-cost COVID-19 test kit developed by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi  is ready to be launched.  The Corona Testing Kit, which uses an alternative testing method, will be launched today according to Ramgopal  Rao, Director of IIT Director.

IIT Delhi, which became the first academic institute to develop a COVID-19 testing method, has granted non-exclusive open licence to companies for commercialising the test. The product is approved by ICMR and DCGI.  The company Newtech Medical Devices, using IIT Delhi technology, can do two million tests per month at an extremely affordable cost.

Ramgopal  Rao, Director IIT,  said “I am pleased to inform you all that IIT Delhi will be proudly launching on 15 July 2020 at 11.00 a.m. “COROSURE” – the RT-PCR Test Kit for COVID-19 developed by the team from Kusuma School of Biological Sciences, which is being manufactured by M/s Newtech Medical Devices, Faridabad and marketed by M/s Jakan Impex, New Delhi. “

“Hon’ble Minister for HRD and Hon’ble Minister of State for HRD will be jointly virtually launching and dedicating the COROSURE Diagnostic Kit to the Nation. The Launch event, which will start at 11.00 a.m., will be webcast through YouTube”, he added.
