Hyderabad : .. A massive Eye Pledge movement like never before is taken up and 2.5 lakh Eyes Were pledged between Sept 21, 2020 to Oct 4, 2020.
The record number of 2.5 lakh Eye Pledges were targeted under an initiative called National Contest on Eye Donation Pledge.
Prime Minister Modi has already extended his accolades to the movement.
A contest towards this effect is organised across India. And the NGO who procure maximum pledges will be declared on October 8, by Mr Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister in a virtual Valedictory function.
Due to COVID, Eye Donation has come down from 60,000 eye balls a year to 4500 in last six months. A mere 10 per cent of the annual achieved in the last six months is very disturbing. Under this backdrop a massive drive is taken up and 2.5 lakh eye donation pledges collected.
It is organised as part of the National Eye Donation Pledge Contest.
It is an initiative of CAMBA. CAMBA is a project of SAKSHAM.
CAMBA stands for Cornea Andhatv Mukta Bharat Abhiyan (in Hindi). It means Corneal Blindness Free Bharat Movement.
“Cornea Andhatv Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (CAMBA)” is a pan India movement of Saksham to bring down the incidence of Corneal Blindness in India and to motivate millions of Indians to pledge their eyes for this noble cause. Samadrishti, Kshamata Vikas Evam Anusandhan Mandal (SAKSHAM) is a charitable national organization with a major presence in Hyderabad.
