Jaipur: ARCH College of Design and Business recently organized a hands-on Jewellery Enamelling Workshop, celebrating the centuries-old craft of Meenakari. The workshop aimed to familiarize students with one of Rajasthan’s most iconic art forms, known for its vibrant designs created by fusing powdered glass onto metal.
The session, conducted by experts, focused on teaching the fundamentals of the Meenakari technique. Participants were introduced to the intricate process, starting from metal surface preparation and enamel powder application to the final firing that results in vibrant, glass-like designs.Throughout the workshop, the expert emphasized the need for precision, patience, and creativity. They explained how Meenakari has evolved over time while maintaining its cultural significance.
During the workshop, students engaged enthusiastically, experimenting with different colors and patterns. Their hands-on experience allowed them to understand the complexities of Meenakari and apply their learnings to their own designs.
The Jewellery Enamelling Workshop concluded with a showcase of student-created pieces, featuring unique designs inspired by traditional Meenakari motifs. ARCH College continues to promote India’s diverse artistic traditions through such workshops, fostering a generation of designers who can blend history with contemporary design to create timeless works of art.
