Varanasi : Student Welfare and Development figure amongst the topmost priorities of Banaras Hindu University. As part of the initiatives in this regard, the varsity has launched scores of programs for students’ development, aimed at nurturing their talents and equipping them with skills and qualities needed to excel in life and career. The Student Leadership and Life Skills Development Initiative, Student Well Being Initiative, and activities under Find the Leader in You Program, are conducted by various faculties in close coordination with the Dean of Students Welfare office, which acts as a bridge as well as coordinating channel between stakeholders.

To further accelerate the student development activities, the university has strengthened the Dean of Students Office for more effective implementation of the programs. The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain has appointed Prof. Nishat Afroz, Mahila Mahavidyalaya, as the Associate Dean of Students (Student Development).

The Associate Dean of Students (Student Development) shall coordinate with units involved in activities related to development of students and assist the Dean of Students. Additionally, the Associate Dean of Students shall independently collaborate and coordinate in planning and effective implementation of related activities across Faculties.
