Varanasi : In its commitment to fostering institutional excellence, Banaras Hindu University is advancing its recruitment of top-tier faculty talent. A comprehensive recruitment process is underway to fill the vacant faculty positions comprising Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Professors, of which about 100 have already been offered appointments. The university is dedicated to ensuring a smooth integration of these new members into its academic community. A seamless acclimatization of the newly recruits into the organization is a crucial process that goes a long way in developing a healthy work culture as well as enhancing engagement and improving productivity. Aiming to achieve this, the university has taken a significant step by appointing two coordinators under the Faculty Recruitment and Assistance Program. The decision has been taken at the initiative of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain who has been prioritizing developing a culture that empowers one and all and drives members of BHU to strive as a team in achieving organizational goals.
Prof. Sandip Kumar from the Department of Pathology, Institute of Medical Sciences, will serve as the Coordinator for Medical Sciences, while, Prof. Ajay Kumar from the Department of Physics, Institute of Science, has been appointed coordinator for the rest of the university. The coordinators will play a pivotal role in the acclimatization of new faculty members. They will facilitate orientation programs, provide guidance on academic and research opportunities both within and outside BHU, and help in ensuring timely access to essential resources such as office space, laboratory facilities, and IT support. Additionally, they will facilitate inter-departmental interactions and networking opportunities to foster collaboration and build meaningful professional relationships.
A crucial part of their role will be to mentor new recruits, assisting them in navigating their teaching and research responsibilities, overcoming initial challenges, and connecting with resources for research proposal writing, funding opportunities, and administrative support. The coordinators have been tasked with establishing a feedback mechanism to track the progress and integration of new faculty members. They will also ensure that on-going issues in the process, if any, are promptly addressed. The idea is to ensure that new recruits connect with the culture and values of Banaras Hindu University, develop a sense of belonging and align themselves to the varsity’s goals, while moving ahead in their individual quest for growth.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain emphasized that the recruitment of exceptional talent must be complemented by a robust induction process. He said, “New people come with fresh perspectives. We must leverage these new ideas and skills. A structured integration and familiarization process helps new members offer innovative ways to achieve shared goals for growth and contribute creatively and more constructively.” The appointment of these coordinators reflects BHU’s commitment to empowering new faculty members and ensuring their successful integration into the university, added the Vice-Chancellor.
