Mysore  – Excel Public School, Mysore, is excited to present its annual STEAM Fest 2024 on August 30th, Friday, at its Koorgalli campus. The event will feature 36 innovative student projects centered around the theme of water, including several award-winning projects from the prestigious ATL Marathon. Prof. Lokanath N K, Vice Chancellor of the University of Mysore, will inaugurate the fest and deliver the keynote address.

The STEAM fest is an integration of science, technology, engineering, Arts and mathematics which is at the core of EPS’ philosophy of multidisciplinary education, encouraging its students the value of creativity, innovation, communication and collaboration. The event will be open to the public from 10 am to 3 pm and is expected to attract over 5,000 visitors, including students from other schools, educators, parents, and science and innovation enthusiasts.

This is the 7th edition of Excel Public School’s STEAM Fest, following previous editions focused on themes such as International Year of the Periodic Table, Plastics, and Climate Change- A Pale Blue Dot. This year’s STEAM Fest will showcase a diverse array of student projects exploring water from various disciplinary perspectives, including geography, astronomy, biology, physics, history, and legal studies. The projects will be categorized under key areas such as Agriculture, Water Science, Astronomy and Water on Celestial Bodies, Traditional and Modern Water Engineering, Sustainability and Pollution, Watershed Management, Aquatic Ecosystems, Rainwater Harvesting, The Origin of Water, and Water Rights.

The fest promises a rich experience with a host of activities including interactive games, a student-produced documentary titled “Your Honour” focusing on environmental justice, and a captivating puppet show “Seashells and Star Stuff” that delves into the origin of water. Special attention will be given to Bangalore’s hydrology, examining the Koramangala-Challaghatta watershed and the city’s vanishing lakes. The exhibition will also highlight ancient water systems such as Roman aqueducts, the step wells of Gujarat, and Persia’s qanats, illustrating the ingenious methods used throughout history to manage and preserve water resources.

In addition to the 36 featured STEAM Fest projects, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the school’s 7,000 sqft Innovation Centre and explore the school’s award-winning ATL Marathon entries which garnered Excel Public School the distinction of having the highest number of selected projects from any school in the country.
