New Delhi : Great Learning, one of India’s leading edtech companies for professional and higher education yesterday hosted a webinar on ‘Decoding the Executive Order by Joe Biden on CyberSecurity’. In the wake of persistent and increasingly sophisticated malicious cyber campaigns being faced by the United States, Joe Biden, President of the United States of America recently signed an executive order that outlines several initiatives and new policies to respond to the cyber incidents and strengthen USA’s cybersecurity.
The hour-long webinar was delivered by an industry veteran, Aniket Amdekar. Aniket is a seasoned cyber security expert and experienced threat hunter with more than 14 years of experience and has helped to secure the networks of many corporations having worked with organisations such as Microsoft, Akamai, Symantec, Walmart Labs, MakeMyTrip. The webinar was organised for cybersecurity aspirants to provide an insight on how this order will impact the cybersecurity industry.
Close to 400 people from diverse sectors including Banking, Insurance, Analytics, Architecture, and Teaching registered for the webinar. 52% of the participants were students who are currently pursuing Engineering in Computer Science and Electronics.
Working professionals comprised 48 percent of the participants, 18% of which, have less than 3 years of experience. The remaining, with over 3 years, spread across sectors like Banking , Insurance, Analytics, Architecture and Teaching.
Speaking about the webinar, Aniket Amdekar, Senior Manager, Information Security, Ocwen Financial Solutions said, “This executive order is a bold step in the right direction. Many buzzwords in cybersecurity such as Zero Trust Architecture, Supply Chain Security are a part of this announcement. Its ripple effects will be seen in the Indian market too, as the mandate mentions secure software development as well.
I personally believe that no amount of technology or budget can replace the foresight of a leader. The intent of this discussion on the executive order was to provide foresight and insight into the future of the cybersecurity industry. Knowing which technologies will be mandated by the executive order, those who want to make a career in the field of cybersecurity can put their hard work in the right direction.
The live session delved into the order by the US President to create an air accident-style cyber review board. It helped learners understand the reasons behind the adoption of new software standards for government agencies, following a spate of digital intrusions that have rattled the United States.
