Interacting on the sidelines of the ceremony Sarosh H. Wadia said the Interior design profession is not about just furniture, or painting. It is about overall space management and its design element. The profession is growing by leaps and bounds. But it is not regulated. The government in our country considers interior designers as self-employed professionals. Since there is no regulation, some people choose to get their design training from reputed institutions while others learn only on the job. If the profession is to flourish, it has to be regulated.

IIID as an Apex body for the profession will come out with guidelines for all its members to self-regulate. We will come out soon with those guidelines, which will have to be followed by all our members across 33 Chapters in India, said Sarosh Wadia.

The Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID) is the apex body for Interior Designers in India and is composed of architects, interior designers, trade members and educationists; on a single platform with a view to share ideas about emerging trends in the design industry.

The objective of the guild is to bring all the stakeholders of the Design profession on a single platform with a view to streamlining processes, sharing ideas, disseminating information and pushing the frontiers of the Design domain.
