IIM Ranchi celebrates 14th Foundation Day

The Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi celebrated its 14th Foundation Day on Thursday at its new campus in Ranchi. The auspicious event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest of the event, Shri P.M. Prasad, the Chairman and Managing Director of Central Coalfields Limited, Shri Praveen Shankar Pandya, Chairman, Board of Governors, Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi, Shri Om Prakash Singhania, Member of the Board of Governors, IIM Ranchi, and Prof. Pradip Kumar Bala, Dean, Academic Affairs and Development. This is the first event with a fully functional and operational permanent campus with all the students present on campus.

The event started with lighting the lamp and invoking the presence of the Almighty in a soulful prayer, followed by the National Song.

Dr Pradip Kumar Bala addressed the gathering. He gave a brief introduction of the history of IIM Ranchi, since its inception in 2010, he spoke about how the institute expanded in the past 13 years and is currently ranked fifteenth on the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF).  He spoke about the Programme that the institute offers MBA, MBA-BA and MBA-HRM courses as well as the Executive and IPM Courses, the NIRF Rankings and the exceptional faculty at IIM Ranchi.

The Director of the Institute, Prof Deepak Kumar Srivastava, took to the dais to address the IIM Ranchi community. He mentioned the need for students’ involvement in the further development of the campus and institute. He mentioned that we not only teach management, in addition, we groom them be responsible managers who can make significant contributions to the nation’s development. As an institute of national importance, IIM Ranchi is obligated to assist the local community in their efforts to improve. Institute aspires for industries to coexist harmoniously with society and the environment.

Next the Chairman Board of Governors, Shri Praveen Shankar Pandya addressed the students and encouraged them to become an entrepreneur and be a job giver instead of job seeker. He said that the institute has played a significant role in encouraging quality in higher education across the nation and in Jharkhand specifically.  The institute has established centres of excellence to perform multidisciplinary research for the benefit of the general public and local organizations in particular. Through the Birsa Munda Centre for Tribal Affairs, the Institute attempted to promote the native culture. The institute has also developed the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Centre on Leadership, Policy, and Government in an effort to foster the development of future leaders and the comprehension of public policy and governance. Institute has also founded the Centre for Happiness to promote happiness among different stakeholders.

This was followed by the Chief Guest’s address, where Shri P.M. Prasad expressed his genuine happiness to see the entire student community in person on the 14th Foundation day of IIM Ranchi. He also pointed out the importance of campus experience and how it contributes to the holistic growth of students.  He also extended his welcome to the students at IIM Ranchi to the Central Coal Fields Limited.

His inspiring words were followed by the students, the rank holders in the first year of Academic year 2021-22. They were given the merit certificate and book prize.

This was followed by the felicitation of faculty members who have completed 10 years of service in the institute by presenting a memento.

The event concluded on a breathtaking note, with the music and dance performances by the multi-talented students of IIM Ranchi, organized by the Cultural Committee.  The dance and music SIGs of MBA and IPM batches, Froggy feet, Zeal, and RBM put their best foot forward and made the evening an unforgettable one.
