IIM Ranchi successfully inaugurated the ‘Immersion Programme on International Business’ on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, for the students of IMS Ghaziabad. A total of 54 students from the PGDM programme of IMS Ghaziabad are participating in this course. This five-day residential programme is designed to provide students with foundational knowledge of management education and international business, aiming to help them develop leadership qualities essential in a competitive market.
The formal inauguration of the course took place in the presence of Prof. Amit Sachan, Dean of Executive Education and Consultancy at IIM Ranchi and Programme Directors Prof. Aman Kumar and, Prof. Kumar Shaurav. The inauguration commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Prof. Aman introduced the students to the significance of the course, explaining that in today’s era of entrepreneurship, internationalization of business has become a key objective. Entrepreneurs and business professionals are striving to take their products to international markets. Thus, a solid understanding of international business concepts is essential.
Prof. Aman added that foreign companies are also investing in India, that’s why international business is an important area of study. Companies engaged in global expansion need to understand international financial management, trade rules, effective business practices, policies, and legal provisions related to international commerce. IIM Ranchi has curated this certificate course with these aspects in mind. The academic sessions over five days will involve discussions on case-study-based content related to international business.
Prof. Sachan inspired the IMS Ghaziabad students by highlighting the value and benefits of the programme. He encouraged students to gain as much knowledge as possible from the covered topics and provided insights into IIM Ranchi’s diverse educational offerings and systems. He urged the students to make the most of the learning experience and enrich their knowledge.
Prof. Shaurav elaborated on the topics included in the course. He stated that during the programme, students would learn about global and Indian trade systems, opportunities and challenges in international business, the international economy, financial management, market research, international trade theory, investment, import-export, pricing and budgeting, rules and terms of international payments, and more. The objective is to equip students with the managerial skills needed to simplify and succeed in international trade in the future.
The inauguration ceremony concluded with a group photography session with the participating students and the Faculty members.
