IIM Ranchi inaugurated the MBA (Executive) Winter Batch 2026-28 in the presence of distinguished industry leaders and senior faculty members. The inaugural session marked the beginning of a new academic journey for experienced professionals joining the programme. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Ashok Kumar Sehgal, CEO, Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. The Guest of Honour was Mr. Ajay Kumar Sinha, HR Head, Hindalco Industries (Renukoot). The event was also graced by Prof. Tanusree Dutta, Dean (Academics); Prof. Nitin Singh; and Prof. Rajeev Ranjan Kumar, Chairperson, MBA (Executive).

The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Rajeev Ranjan Kumar, who warmly welcomed the new batch of students and encouraged them to make the most of the learning opportunities at IIM Ranchi.

Director IIM Ranchi, Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, in his address, shared perspective on management education. He stated that management cannot simply be taught in a traditional sense; rather, it is a multidimensional and evolving reality. He explained that management includes objective understanding, natural design, legacy learning, and experience-based insights. He emphasized that the MBA (Executive) programme not only enhances knowledge but also builds strong professional networks. He also briefed the students about the academic system, pedagogy, and facilities available at the institute.

Addressing the participants, Chief Guest Shri Ashok Kumar Sehgal described the programme as a transformational journey for professionals who return to academics after years in industry. He noted that the world is changing rapidly due to technological disruptions and evolving business environments. He also mentioned that experienced professionals are already aware of the need for change, and therefore management theories will complement, not challenge, their practical understanding. He highlighted the importance of connecting real-world experience with academic frameworks to better adapt to ongoing industrial transformations.

Guest of Honour Shri Ajay Kumar Sinha emphasized that programmes like MBA (Executive) help shape future leaders. He stated that structured academic learning combined with industry experience enables participants to become more effective and responsible professionals. He encouraged students to leverage this opportunity to strengthen their leadership abilities, develop new ideas, and prepare themselves to handle complex business challenges with confidence and innovation.

The inaugural session concluded with a sense of enthusiasm and commitment among the participants. The MBA (Executive) Winter Batch 2026-28 at IIM Ranchi begins its journey with the aim of blending academic rigor with industry experience, preparing professionals to lead in a dynamic and competitive business environment.
