Ranchi: Atal Bihari Vajpayee Centre for Leadership, Policy, and Governance celebrated Good Governance Day, a tribute to India’s Visionary statesman Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 97th birth anniversary in the presence of Chief Guest Shri Arjun Munda, Hon’ble Minister of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, Guests of Honour- Shri Deepak Prakash, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, Shri Sanjay Seth, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Lok Sabha, Prof. Shailendra Singh, Director, IIM Ranchi, Shri Praveen Shankar Pandya, Chairperman, BoG, IIM Ranchi, distinguished dignitaries, faculty, staff and students.
Prof Aditya Shankar Mishra started by introducing all of the notable attendees. He also reflected on the significance of the day. “It is commonly claimed that individuals lose sight of their principles once in power.” However, late Atal Bihari Vajpayee is a legendary figure in Indian politics whose leadership abilities, tenacity, and unwavering commitment to ideals and discipline have inspired future generations. IIM Ranchi ABVCLP celebrates this day in his honour with tremendous pride and delight. IIM Ranchi, ABVCLP, is taking a small step toward realizing his aspirations of a better India. The gathering will have the opportunity to learn about leadership, policies and discuss the values and duties that everyone must play in the growth of the new India.
Prof. Shailendra Singh began the ceremony by extending a cordial welcome to the distinguished guests. He addressed the gathering and said “Since IIM Ranchi’s foundation, students and faculty from all across India have contributed to and enabled the institution to reach the heights it has today. IIM Ranchi promotes diversity, with students and faculty hailing from all around India. An organization that believes in empowering society. He remembers how the institution grew from 44 students to over 1000 currently. Starting with one programme, the institute has grown to include seven programmes, including two new ones, MBA BA and IPM. The institute has had great success with its PhD programmes, and in 2019 it began its first batch of executive PhD students. He also recalls fond childhood recollections of speaking with Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and being deeply impacted by his beliefs, and how it gives him tremendous satisfaction and pleasure to be a part of this day in his loving memories. On his birthday, he also remembers Shri Madan Mohan Malviya, another great leader of India. He said that the youth of IIM Ranchi is working towards Unnat Bharath Abhiyan, resolving water scarcity issues in tribal areas, actively helping during Covid, and fundraising during the hard times of Covid widespread. He added that we would continue to serve and work for the community in this attitude.
Hon’ble Member of Parliament Lok Sabha, Shri Sanjay Seth remarked, “Atal Bihari Vajpayee had a special affection for the people and community of Jharkhand, and Jharkhand arose as a new state under his leadership.” He believed in the upliftment of society’s poorest sections, and his specific theory was that progress must begin from the ground up, or else it will not be termed development. He recalls how Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the great leader, once stood in the rain and made a speech to a crowd, saying, “I will talk until you listen, I will be soaked till you get drenched.” This caring personality was down to earth; he never hesitated or thought of himself as different from the rest of the population. Our Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, continues on his path. As a result, the country has fought against Covid times, held free vaccination drives, and distributed free food and water to all. None of the policies initiated by the prime minister have been abandoned, and this is what good governance looks like. When other countries battled and were strangled, India fought bravely under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi. Covid was converted into a chance to promote Made in India. This had a significant impact on the defence industry. Vision and passion are qualities that young people should emulate to transform India into the dream that Late President Shri APJ Abdul Kalam once had.
Shri Deepak Prakash, Hon’ble member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, addressed reminiscing When we talk about the Indus civilization, we get a whiff of good administration. Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar discussed good governance, which led to the Niti Aayog. India faces sanctions as a result of the nuclear test at Pokhran. Atal Ji stood tall and helped India become one of the world’s most powerful economies. Atal Ji dreamed of linking metros and saw it through to completion. He adds, “I’m proud to say that what the PM envisioned has come to fruition.” Shri Arjun Munda did it on the ground in Jharkhand. Atal Ji’s idea of Sanchar Kranti 2.0 is benefiting the whole country. Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan – everyone receives an education – was launched by Atal Ji to educate youngsters aged 6 to 14. He wrote the motto alone, with no assistance from a professor—conflict on the Kaveri River. By coming together and utilizing discussion as a medium, Atal Ji was able to resolve a 100-year quarrel in only three days. We won the Kargil war under his excellent leadership, proving to the world that we are a brave nation. After witnessing the tragic situation in Kalahandi, he stated that independence is meaningless if people in a country must starve and die hungry, so he envisioned an India where no one would go hungry, and the government would develop like never before, which Shri Narendra Modi is currently doing.
Shri Arjun Munda, Hon’ble Minister of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, said India was ruled by many rulers until 1947 when it gained independence after a protracted battle. Since then, we’ve gained a lot of knowledge. We are delighted and grateful that, under Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji’s leadership, we have witnessed firsthand what excellent government entails. We have discovered a new definition of development thanks to his vision. Having a leader like him after independence is proud of and grateful for. Working in the same direction and according to his ideals, Shri Narendra Singh Modi believes that “sab ka Saath sab ka Vikas sabka Vishwas aur sabka prayas” is more than a slogan; it is a value, and we must realize this if we are to contribute to the revolution that India is going to undergo. Good governance does not include dominating or managing others; rather, it entails governing one’s ideals, discipline, thoughts, and values and integrating these to form strong foundations on which to operate. These values and concepts contribute to future leaders who believe in serving others and building a better future. He told all students that the entire nation looks up to them. Education is a joy and a blessing bestowed onto young children; through education, tomorrow’s leaders will emerge. No matter what profession one works in, the ideals of service and allegiance to the country will instill pride and help prosper. One day, every Indian will proudly proclaim that they are contributors and that they are all serving the country. We discuss values, morality, and ideals in our heritage and culture. We come from the place where Gautam Buddha began teaching, and in the post-independence age, great statesmen like Atal Bihari Vajpayee governed the country. His life is something that every student and citizen should learn from. The country’s remarkable legacy must be preserved. All pupils must become leaders and steer the country via education. He also stated, “Right to information is something that gives every citizen of India the advantage of knowing everything that is going on in this independent nation,” and that “we must learn and know the domains of society, the issues that must be resolved, and only then can we bring good governance into existence.” When it comes to swachh Bharat, he concluded that we must clean the outside and the inner. Ayushmaan Bharath is about more than just medications and health care for everyone; it’s about intrinsic wellbeing and respect that we must offer for each other as a society and in harmony. We must uphold Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s beliefs. He encourages pupils to take pride in Ranchi’s soil, learn from it, and demonstrate Ranchi’s potential to the rest of the world.
The ceremony was closed with presenting mementos to the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour.
