Ranchi: The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Centre for Leadership, Policy, and Governance, IIM Ranchi, conducted its 3rd Anniversary Lecture with Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh- Hon’ble Minister of State for Education and External Affairs at IIM Ranchi on September 27, 2021, as the distinguished speaker for the event.

Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Education and External Affairs, Govt. of India, presented his lecture titled “Reforms for Good Governance.”

Prof. Shailendra Singh, Hon’ble Director, IIM Ranchi graced the ocassion. He said students and alumni of IIM Ranchi are making a significant impact all over the world and in the domain of management. He said that ABVCLPG, A Centre of Excellence at IIM Ranchi has done good work for budding public administrators in the fields of leadership, policy and governance.

Hon’ble Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, spoke how Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat (One India, Great India)’ and words like ‘reform, perform and transform, provide insights about the concept of ‘good governance. He discussed some of these positive developments in promoting good governance, for India. There are eight major qualities of good governance. It is democratic, consensus-driven, accountable, transparent, responsive, effective, and efficient, as well as equitable and inclusive, and it adheres to the rule of law.

Out father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi also emphasized “su-raj” which essentially means good governance. Right to Information and E-Governance are two key efforts that have recently been launched in India in order to empower the ordinary man and ensure good governance.

In the end he concluded that the country’s good governance will flourish if every Indian citizen ignites the flame of patriotism by sticking to truth, peace, and nonviolence as methods of perceiving the India of our dreams. Every attendee should swear at this event that the moral ideals that guide our lives would never be swayed by money or muscle strength. We must allow our moral strength to triumph over our physical strength. As responsible citizens of the country, it is our primary responsibility to continue to vote for honest and upright citizens who can serve as effective administrators and reformers to bring constructive change to our country.

Prof. Aditya Shankar Mishra  highlighted the importance of good governance by quoting Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and its mission to work for the country and its development. Prof. Angshsuman Hazarika coordinated the Question and Answer session and vote of thanks. A token of appreciation was presented at the end to the distinguished speaker.
