Bhubaneswar : Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar is organising the first-ever AICTE Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Circular Economy’ from 16th to 20th December 2024. The 5-day programme was inaugurated today by Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar, in the presence of Prof. V. Pandu Ranga, Dean (Continuing Education) of the Institute; Coordinator of the programme Dr. Dukhabandhu Sahoo, Head of School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management and Co-Coordinator Dr. Punyashree Panda, Associate Professor, School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management.
The objectives of the FDP are to develop a conceptual & theoretical understanding of circular economy along with the strategies and policies; to analyse innovative drives, explore business models & circular economy practices and to examine some real-world applications, enablers and barriers, national and international policies. It may be mentioned that circular economy fosters a more resilient and regenerative economy by closing the loop of product lifecycles through strategies like recycling, remanufacturing, and renewable energy integration.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar interacted with the participants and the experts of the FDP about the significance of Circular Economy. He also stressed on the importance of activity-based learning and collaboration in the process of learning, which can lead to a better understanding of the complex subjects.
In his address, Prof. V. Pandu Ranga highlighted the measures being taken by the Continuing Education section of the Institute in upskilling the professionals and industry experts by relevant modules, which will have lasting impact.
At the outset of the programme, Dr. Dukhabandhu Sahoo delivered the welcome address. Dr. Punyashree Panda proposed a vote of thanks.
The FDP will cover various aspects of Circular Economy for the participants from across the country, wherein the experts will discuss and deliberate upon the principles, prospects and future perspectives of Circular Economy.
