Gandhinagar: In a humble effort to pay ‘swachhanjali’ to Mahatma Gandhi ahead of his birth anniversary, the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) organised a mass cleanliness drive at its nearby Palaj village today. The event – “Ek Tareekh-Ek Ghanta” – was part of a series of activities under the fortnight-long “Swachhata Pakhwada” celebration on the theme “Swachhata hi Sewa”.

More than 100 community members of the Institute, including students, faculty, and staff, gave ‘Shramdaan’ of one hour to clean the venue in Palaj village and collected about 650 kg of garbage. They also sensitised the villagers about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in our surroundings.
