Roorkee, India : The Career Development Cell (CDC) at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee recently concluded its highly successful outreach event, “Career Compass,”. Aimed at providing invaluable guidance and insights to school students in navigating their career paths, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various schools in Roorkee.

Career Compass, a CDC, IIT Roorkee’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering holistic development, served as a beacon of guidance and inspiration for students from classes 9th to 12th. The event brought together eminent faculty members, Heads of Departments, and professionals from diverse fields, including defense, medicine, law, economics, architecture, and more, to share their expertise and experiences and enrich the knowledge base on these students who are trying to make an informed decision regarding the career path to be chosen.

Unlike traditional lecture series, Career Compass provided a platform for interactive sessions where students actively engaged with the speakers, asking questions, and resolving doubts about their career paths. This exchange of ideas not only enriched the students’ understanding but also helped them gain a clearer vision of their future aspirations.

Career Compass, as part of the pre-event activities leading up to COMET’24 (Career Orientation and Mentorship for Emerging Talents), embodies IIT Roorkee’s legacy of dedication to societal impact and contribution. COMET’24, with its tagline “IIT Roorkee’s Annual Career Odyssey,” promises to be a transformative experience for all participants, further reinforcing the institute’s commitment to nurturing talent and shaping the future leaders of our nation.

Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, expressed deep appreciation for the enthusiastic response to the Career Compass event, underscoring the institute’s unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation with vision, knowledge, and guidance. He highlighted that both Career Compass and COMET’24 exemplify IIT Roorkee’s dedication to excellence across education, research, and societal impact. Prof. Pant further emphasized, “IIT Roorkee resonates with the Honorable Prime Minister’s transformative vision for Skill India and Viksit Bharat. With a steadfast focus on academic excellence, we champion skill development and entrepreneurship to equip our students with the essential capabilities that drive national growth. Our endeavors truly mirror the PM’s aspiration for a skilled, self-reliant India.”

IIT Roorkee extends its gratitude to participants, speakers, and volunteers for the success of “Career Compass,” an event engaging students from classes 9th to 12th in interactive sessions with experts from various fields. Serving as a precursor to COMET’24, the event reflects IIT Roorkee’s commitment to guiding the next generation. It not only offered career guidance but also highlighted the institute’s dedication to holistic development and societal impact, reinforcing its legacy of educational excellence and leadership nurturing. Prof. Rajat Rastogi, Prof. in Charge CDC informed the students that CDC is created with a vision of “Developing the students’ personalities, enabling them to effectively capitalize on the diverse career opportunities arising across work and knowledge domains”.
