New Delhi : 15-year-old Arjun will represent the nation in the 4th Asian Youth Athletics Championship 2022 to be held in Kuwait from 13 to 16 October 2022 after winning the gold medal in Javelin Throw at the 17th National Youth Athletics Championship 2022, held at Bhopal during 17-19 September. Arjun from Delhi is Class XI student of Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh.

Arjun has created a record with a throw of 72.92 m while the qualifying score for the Asian youth championship was 69.36 m. 15-year-old Arjun is currently ranked number 1 in India, third in Asia and 10th in the world in the under-18 boys’ javelin throw category. He has been training to qualify for the Asian games for the last two years.

“Arjun’s impressive success at the National Youth Athletics Championship has brought immense glory to our school and I am optimistic that he will excel at the Asian Youth Athletics Championship, too. In this moment of pride, I hope all our students get inspired by Arjun and bring more laurels to the school. Glorious accomplishments like this depict that the Modern Public School is not only focused on academic excellence but in extra-curricular activities too,” said Principal of MPS Mrs Alka Kapur.

The Modern Public School (MPS) has played a phenomenal role in shaping Arjun’s career in track and field athletics. The school provided him with javelin and other top-class equipment for training. Arjun was also allowed to practice during school hours and his classes were compensated accordingly. Before he departs for the national camp for training prior to representing India at Asian Youth Athletics Championship 2022, the school will host a ceremony to cherish his accomplishments of Arjun and to wish him good luck. Arjun will also be supported with a scholarship from the school which includes school fees exemption.

Arjun’s father, presently a sweet vendor in Delhi, has also been a sportsperson in Discuss Throw. He has been a major motivation for Arjun and has supported him in both academics and sports. Going forward, Arjun’s aim is to represent the country in the Olympics.
