The Lohri and Makar Sankranti festivals were lavishly celebrated at KIIT World School. Staff members and students alike heartily participated in the festival. Speaking at the festival of Lohri, which brings in the joyous spring season and bids farewell to the gloomy winter, teachers emphasised the significance of the occasion.
On this occasion, school’s primary students performed poetry and dances, while other students performed Lohri songs, poems, and Punjabi “Boliyaan” songs. Through a variety of activities, the students displayed their talent. By singing a traditional Lohri song, students of ninth and tenth grade introduced everyone with the history of Lohri. Teachers and students circumambulated the holy bonfire and danced around it. They distributed popcorn, peanuts, and rewdi.
Principal of KIIT World School, Neelima Kamrah, said, “Celebration of Lohri is a representation of India’s vibrant culture and is observed in response to the introduction of new success. The Lohri celebration emphasises farming and encourages people to give thanks for God’s blessings and to appreciate his creations.” She further said that the school’s major goal is to concentrate on the holistic development of the students with such activities.
