New Delhi: The University of Grants Commission, the regulator for higher education, has asked all universities to commence classes for the new academic year from 01 November 2020. Also, the UGC instructed them to complete all admission process for Fresh Batch (First Semester or Year) for Under Graduate(UG) and Post Graduate (PG) by 31 October 2020.
The University of Grants Commission, the regulator for higher education, has released Academic Calendar for the First Year of Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Students of the Universities for the Session 2020-21.
Union Education Minister, Dr.Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, said “In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission has accepted the Report of the Committee and approved the Guidelines on Academic Calendar for the First Year of Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Students of the Universities for the Session 2020-21.”
New Academic Year -2020-21
As per the New Academic Calendar 2020-21, the examination for First semester will be held during 08 -26 March 2021. Meanwhile, the examination for Second Semester will be held during 09 – 21 August 2021.
The next academic session for this batch will start from 30 August 2020. The number of holidays will be reduced to accommodate more working days for conducting academic classes and activities.
The Minister informed that “To avoid financial hardship being faced by the parents due to lockdown and related factors, a full refund of fees will be made on account of all cancellation of admissions/ migration of students, up to 30 November 2020, for this very session as a special case.”
