Delhi : Actions for Restoring Environment (ARE) Conference, organized by Energy Swaraj Foundation in collaboration with All India Council for Technical Education is one-of-its-kind conference started with a bang on 24th November 2022 at Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. With 4 intensive sessions of discussions and deliberations, the conference reinstates and revokes the thought of climate action – ARE we taking enough action? The fourth session also saw, Bollywood actress, producer – Ms. Dia Mirza, who is also the UN Goodwill Ambassador.
During her session, she commented that the future of corporations and industries will be for those which bring positive change to the society. She also spent time in the Energy Swaraj Yatra bus, commending Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki’s decision of not going home and staying in solar bus for 11 years for a greater good. The day also say a special message from Honorable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra ModiJi, who congratulated Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki, Team of Energy Swaraj Foundation and AICTE on taking forward the climate discussions
Most speakers agreed and re-imposed that not one organization but every organisation and every individual needs to take climate corrective action. Climate action requires collective public action. The second day started with the representatives from various spiritual organizations coming together to deliberate and pledge climate action. Prof Solanki initiated the discussion with the spiritual organisations by asking them the basic question – did the spiritual leaders failed to keep people’s respect for nature?
Acharya Lokesh Muni answered that the problem is “Ram ko mante hai, ram ki nahi mante.” Brother Golo from BramhaKumaris agreed saying that, we need revolution to solve the problem of climate change. He added that what one lives, is taken care of, of one which is taken care of is not destroyed. He also commented that spirituality can be a guiding light, but the change needs to come from self.
This was followed by the session with the representatives of the media. The most important point that emerged from the discussion during this session was that in today’s technology driven world everyone can be a journalist and serve the purpose by taking appropriate action for climate change. It was amazing to see the intellectual minds coming together to pose the most basic, yet a complex question of the current times – ARE we taking enough actions. Former Vice Chairman of Niti Aayog – Shri. Rajiv Kumar Ji also spoke at the conference and asserted that India can become world leader in environmental innovation.
For the day, two sessions on industry and academic institutions are also planned, which will be followed by Energy Swaraj Awards, which will appreciate the exemplary efforts put in by individual and organizations to mitigate climate change. The purpose of ARE conference was to ask tough questions to everyone that ARE we taking enough actions? All the speakers in the sessions conducted so far have are more or less been unanimous in accepting that No, we are NOT taking enough action. Let us not defeat the future of coming generations. Let us now become conscious and TAKE enough actions.
