Dhemaji Higher Secondary School, Dhemaji , down town Charity Trust, a recognized Training and Management Partner of Samagra Shiksha, Assam successfully organized Skill Utsav-2025, an event dedicated to propmoting and celebrating skill-based education under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).
The event aimed to encourage students to pursue vocational education and highlight the role of skill development in creating employment opportunities upcoming youth of Assam. The event was attended by Hon’ble Minister of Education, Govt of Assam Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Sjt Pradan Barua, principal of various schools implementing vocational education, Inspector of schools, trainers and students.
Under the project, down town Charity Trust is implementing vocational education in Govt. Schools through engagement of 593 numbers of trainers across nine sectoral skill areas, including Healthcare, Tourism& Hospitality, Retail, IT-ITEs, Agriculture, Beauty & Wellness, Electronics and Hardware, Apparel and Automotive. The trust provides structure training to students from class IX to XII, ensuring that they are equipped with industry relevant skills aligned with National Occupational Standard.
Skill Utsav-2025 emphasizes the achievement and capabilities of students who have undergone vocational training and assessment. NSQF aligned Certificates, issued by respective sector skill councils, are awarded to the students. These certificates are encouragement for opting higher level job-oriented courses and also helpful for getting a job in the respective sector.
Initiative is also taken in the event to recognize the efforts of trainers with the top 10 skill trainers felicitated for their outstanding performance and contributing to vocational education.
A special Skill Exhibition was also organized, where students presented their projects and demonstrated practical skills acquired during their training. The exhibition fosters innovation and entrepreneurship among young learners.
Speaking on the occasion, officials from downtown Charity Trust reiterated their commitment to strengthening skill-based education and bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.
Skill Utsav-2025 concluded with a call to integrate skill development as a core component of education, ensuring that every student is equipped not only with knowledge but also with practical abilities to build a sustainable and successful career.
