Mumbai, 30th April 2018: SPJIMR has announced the launch of an alumni app on mobile platforms as part of its larger effort to strengthen alumni relations and enable alumni across programmes and batches to connect with each other seamlessly and in real time. The initiative is one of many taken by SPJIMR alumni relations, which works with a two-pronged mission: (i) to strengthen the SPJIMR brand through the achievements of the alumni and (ii) to make SPJIMR alumni more successful.

The alumni team has pre-registered almost 6,500 alums on the app, which has been downloaded more than 500 times within the first few months of a soft launch late last year. After the initial beta testing, the app is open for download by all alumni.

The ‘SPJIMR Alumni App’ is available for Android and iOS phones. The alumni can track special campus events, alumni news, celebrations and alumni award winners. They may register and participate in webinars and SPJIMR chapter meetings across cities. It also has advanced features to help search alumni by batches, locations and industries.

The app has an exclusive jobs and internship portal powered by users who comprise alumni since 37 years of SPJIMR’s history and form a base of some 7,500+ managers and leaders in significant positions in India and globally.

The full power of the app will be unlocked when a large number of alumni download it, driving user-generated content that could cover a wide range – from personal and professional achievements to jobs and collaboration ventures.

The app will also be a useful tool as more alumni take up leadership of alumni relations under various alumni city chapters. The chapters in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata and Singapore are already operational.

SPJIMR Dean Dr. Ranjan Banerjee, who has personally attended 29 alumni meets across 10 destinations in India and the globe since he took over as Dean four years ago, said: “The alumni app is a true example of digital democracy. It is suggested by the alumni, created for the alumni, and it should showcase the best of the alumni. We hope you will use it to connect, build new friendships and deepen old ones.”

Prof. Aditi Divatia, who leads SPJIMR Alumni Relations and has been instrumental in strengthening the alumni connect and out-reach, added: “Our alumni share strong bonds with SPJIMR and are always eager to connect, contribute and find new ways to engage. The app will help cut through the clutter and provide a simple, elegant and efficient interface that can become the one stop platform for our wide base of alumni to connect with each other and the Institute.”
