Mumbai: Students at Billabong High International School (BHIS), Malad, continue to shine bright and make the school proud. Over the last weeks, Billabongers have won several accolades across academic and non-academic championships and competitions.
Billabonger Ayush Sankaran, a Grade 6 student, won at numerous coding events namely, Toycathon 2021 and Google India Code to Learn Coding Contest. He was recently featured on the Young Genius TV show aired on News18 where he was awarded the Young Genius Trophy. Ayush also talked about his favorite subject—coding and how he has been contributing to the field by developing various gaming apps.
The TV show was aired on March 5th on News18 India (Hindi) channel at 7 pm, on CNN India, and History TV on March 6th at 7:30 pm. Ayush, among other students, were selected by a jury comprising Smt Hema Malini (Actor, Dancer & Politician), Pullela Gopichand (Coach and Badminton Player), Shankar Mahadevan (Singer and Musician), Amish Tripathi (Author), Dr. R.S.Sodhi (CEO of Amul), and Dr. Anil Mishra (Director, DRDO).
Among other achievers, Atharva Agarwal, a Grade 2 student, recently won Gold at the Mission Olympic National Skating Championship organized by Maharashtra Mission Olympic Association. He won two gold and bronze medals at the 13th Musical Chair and Skating Championship held in February. He will now represent India at the International Level Championship.
Another Billabonger, Pranit Somani, a Grade 8 student, bagged Gold at the Interschool Badminton Championship 2022, in the Under 14 category. His classmate Pradyuman Shenoy won a silver medal, securing the second runner-up position in the Table Tennis Championship organized by the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) in February.
Archi Agrawal of Grade 4 won the Indian State Debating League Competition organized by AugLi Future Academy in January. Archi represented Team Maharashtra in category Grade 4 – 6.
