New Delhi: In a landmark development to boost career prospects of students, the University Grants Commission (UGC) approved the proposal of the dual degree.  Now, a student can now pursue dual degree simultaneously from same or any other institution.

However, the students will have to select a degree in regular mode and another in open or through distance learning. Now, a student can pursue an engineering course and economics at the same time. The dual degree option not only helps the students in enhancing their skills but also creates greater career opportunities.

The UGC will notify a detailed guidelines on the dual degree practices. Under dual degree practices, the regular degree has the minimum attendance requirement, while students opting another degree will be through open or distant mode.

Now a student pursuing engineering can study economics. Similarly, a student pursuing Economic from Delhi University can study English degree programmes from IGNOU through online mode.
