Ranchi, Jharkhand – : IIM Ranchi had the honour of hosting Shri Nirvik Banerjee, Executive Director In-Charge of SAIL’s R&D Centre for Iron and Steel (RDCIS), Ranchi, for an enlightening discussion on India’s technological trajectory at the event “India’s Techade – Chips for Viksit Bharat @2047.” The session, marked by insightful perspectives, showcased the pivotal role of research and innovation in India’s journey towards becoming a global leader with a $30 trillion economy by 2047.
Mr. Banerjee emphasized the crucial role of the youth in realizing India’s developmental aspirations and expressed confidence in India’s potential to lead globally. He highlighted India’s progress across diverse sectors, ranging from healthcare to infrastructure, underscoring the necessity for continuous efforts in clean energy solutions.
The programme had the presence of Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi, faculty, students, and staff. Prof. Varun Elembilassery felicitated Mr Banerjee, presenting a token of appreciation in recognition of his valuable insights.
The event reached its peak with the address of the honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji inaugurating three semiconductor facilities including India’s first Fab facility at Dholera in Gujarat, Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility at Sanand in the state, and an OSAT facility in Morigaon, Assam. During this momentous occasion, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Electronics & Information Technology Minister in the Government of India, unveiled plans benefiting 30 lakh students through collaborative efforts between the government and industry.
Natarajan Chandrasekaran, the Chairman of Tata Sons, stressed the significance of the first indigenous semiconductor, poised to generate 50,000 job openings and foster innovative solutions for consumers. Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, highlighted the need to overcome geographical barriers, while Shri Bhupendra Bhai Patel emphasized the diverse applications of semiconductors in health, automobile, and electrical industries.
Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Modi, in his address, underscored the importance of Industry 4.0 and technological advancements. He mentioned the signing of MOUs with over 60,000 institutions within a month, promoting technology’s role in revenue and employment generation. The Prime Minister encouraged the youth to explore the vibrant startup ecosystem, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
The event concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem.
