VARANASI : A total of 37,896 Graduands of Banaras Hindu University are set to experience one of the most special occasions of their student life, they will cherish throughout. The university at the 102nd convocation will be awarding degrees to the students who passed their respective programs in the years 2020, 2021 and 2022. The main ceremony of the convocation will take place from 10.00 am onwards at the Swatantrata Bhawan auditorium.

Addressing a curtain raiser press conference at the committee room no. 1 of the Central Office, Banaras Hindu University, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain said the university fraternity is excited and delighted for the convocation which is being organized after a gap of almost three years, due to the Covid19 pandemic. He said that Banaras Hindu University is a very unique institution and is known for the special bond it has with its students and alumni. The convocation is an opportunity to rediscover, recollect and further strengthen this bond, said Prof. Jain. At BHU we not only equip students with theoretical and professional knowledge to excel in their careers but also inculcate in them human values, ethos and life skills that transform them into good human beings, ready to be change makers, underlined the Vice-Chancellor.

He said that the students and alumni are the most important stakeholders for any educational institution. He added that BHU is uniquely placed when it comes to the strength and diversity of its alumni. He called upon the graduands getting degrees in convocation 2022 to join the efforts of taking the institution forward and invited them to get registered on BHU’s newly launched alumni portal. The Vice-Chancellor mentioned that the new portal has been designed with an objective to connect to the massive alumni base of BHU in an efficient way so as to better organize, manage and maintain relations with them. The portal can be accessed through a link on BHU website or the address www.alumni.bhu.ac.in.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the university is committed to create new opportunities for students to enable them to get ready for the future challenges. He listed several new initiatives taken by the university during the course of the past one year.

Prof. Jain informed that a total of 91 Graduands will be presented various medals from dais at the main function. These include Chancellor’s medals, Late Maharaja Vibhuti Narayan Singh Gold Medal and BHU medals. (List enclosed)

BHU alumnus and Chairman & CEO of Palo Alto Networks, Mr. Nikesh Arora will deliver the convocation address this year. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (1985 – 1989) from Institute of Technology, BHU, which is now IIT-BHU. He holds an MBA degree in Marketing from Northeastern University, Boston, United States. He went to Boston College to pursue Masters of Science (Finance) from 1992-1994. Prior to joining Palo Alto Networks as Chairman & CEO, Mr. Arora has also been the President and COO of SoftBank. He has worked as a senior executive with Google for nearly a decade. He has been with Palo Alto Networks since June 2018. Headquartered in Santa Clara, California, United States, the company is a global cyber security leader.
