India : XLRI Jamshedpur proudly celebrated a significant milestone on August 17, 2024, with the successful hosting of its 1st Convocation of XLRI Online Learning (XOL) Programmes. The event, held at the prestigious Tata Auditorium, was graced by the esteemed presence of Ms. Madhavi Lall, Managing Director and Head of HR for India at Deutsche Bank, who served as the Chief Guest.

In the welcome note, Chairman T. V. Narendran said, “Today, as we come together to celebrate the first convocation of XLRI’s Online Learning Programmes, amidst the grandeur of our Platinum Jubilee, I feel a profound sense of accomplishment and pride. To our 108 graduates in BM, HRM, and Finance, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. XLRI has always been pioneers in management education, and this initiative is a testament to our enduring commitment to innovation. The surging demand for online learning reflects the changing times in a world that values flexibility and adaptability. Our graduates, you have demonstrated exceptional dedication and resilience. Your journey has been demanding, but you have emerged stronger, equipped with the knowledge and skills to excel. As you step into this new chapter, carry the spirit of XLRI with you. May your future be as bright as your achievements today. We are immensely proud of you and wish you every success.”

Fr. S. George, S.J. – Director, XLRI Jamshedpur, officially opened the Convocation Ceremony, which included the lighting of a lamp and a prayer song performed by the XLRI Choir. The Director warmly welcomed both the Chief Guest and the graduating students, emphasizing the importance of this achievement in their professional journeys.

Following this, Fr. Donald D’Silva S.J., Dean (Admin & Finance) introduced Ms. Madhavi Lall. He addressed the graduating students, offering insights and encouragement for their future endeavors.

While addressing the students, Ms. Madhavi Lall, Managing Director and Head of HR for India at Deutsche Bank, remarked, “To the pioneering class of 2024, your journey marks a significant milestone, not only for yourselves but for the entire XLRI community. As the first batch of this online program, you have set a high standard, proving that with determination and adaptability, one can thrive in any environment. Remember, the world is constantly evolving, and your ambition, combined with the strong foundation you’ve built here, will be the key to navigating these changes. As you step into your careers, stay curious, push beyond your comfort zones, and above all, be kind and compassionate leaders who uplift those around you. Your generation has the potential to change the world for the better, and I have no doubt you will do just that.”

The ceremony continued with Dr. Sanjay Patro, Dean (Academics), XLRI Jamshedpur, presenting students who qualified for academic medals, awarded by the Director.

Prof. Dipankar Bose, Associate Dean of XOL Programs at XLRI Jamshedpur, presented his report, highlighting the achievements of the XOL program, followed by a short video showcasing the journey of the XOL students. The 108 graduates were then awarded their Postgraduate Diplomas. The Master of Ceremonies concluded the event by expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest and inviting the audience to stand for the National Anthem.

As the ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, the Director officially adjourned the Convocation Ceremony, marking a proud moment for XLRI and its graduates. The Postgraduate Diploma in Management – Business Management, Postgraduate Diploma in Management – Human Resource Management, and Postgraduate Diploma in Management – Finance were highlighted as key offerings that empower students to excel in their respective fields.
