XLRI Jamshedpur’s Team Medallion (XOL) Secures 2nd Runner Up Place in NJ Factor Investing Olympiad, Wins 2.5 Lakhs

Students of Xavier Online Learning (XOL: Post Graduate Diploma in Finance Program), Xavier School of Management – XLRI Jamshedpur, secured 2nd Runner Up rank in NJ Factor Investing Olympiad – an annual factor investing challenge for India’s premier business schools, organized by NJ Mutual Fund & Asset Management.

XLRI Jamshedpur’s Team Medallion (XOL), comprising Ankit Singhal, Divyanshu Raj, Rohan Banerjee, Niket Kulkarni, and Rishav Anand secured the 2nd Runner Up rank and won the prize money of 2.5 Lakhs under the guidance of Prof. Pankaj Agarwal (From XLRI Delhi).

XLRI Team Medallion (XOL) received the prize on April 27, 2024, at Hotel Le Meridian, Surat, Gujarat.

69 teams from top 30 premier business schools participated in the NJ Factor Investing Olympiad. The competition empowered participants with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions when utilizing smart beta strategies. It also helped them to enhance their ability to leverage factors parameter effectively in designing portfolios and strategic approaches to investment decision-making.

8 teams from top business schools reached the finals: IIMA (Team 1), IIMA (Team 2), IIM Nagpur, BITS Pilani, KJ SMIR, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, St. Kabir Institute of Professional Studies, and XLRI Jamshedpur.

Top 3 Ranks:

Ø  Rank 1 – IIMA Team 1 – Prize Money 5 Lakhs

Ø  Rank 2 – Pandit Deendayal Energy University – Prize Money 3.75 Lakhs

Ø  Rank 3 – XLRI Jamshedpur – Prize Money 2.5 Lakhs

“This competition offered an exceptional chance for us to craft and showcase factor investing portfolios that aimed at addressing real-life challenges faced by investment managers. Participating allowed us to assess our strategies among various business schools throughout India. Reaching the grand finale was a challenging journey, but ultimately securing the position of 2nd runner-up was truly a gratifying experience. Special thanks to Prof H K Pradhan and Prof. N Sivasankaran and their teams of professors and visiting faculty for preparing us for the intricacies of the financial market”, said Team XLRI-Medallion (XOL).
