XLRI Jamshedpur had the privilege of hosting Mr. Paritosh Anand, a distinguished corporate leader. Mr. Anand conducted an insightful session on the topic “A dummies guide to problem-solving: Some Principles that helped me through my career. The session saw participation from over 100 students, as well as members of the XLRI management and Prof. Dr A Kanagaraj, the Convenor for Placement (BM, HRM & GM), added to the occasion by extending a warm welcome to the guest speaker and conveying his sincere appreciation.

In his address, Mr. Anand highlighted several key points including Digitization in the business world. The oil and gas industry, known for its rigidity, is undergoing significant transformation through digitization. Over the past decade, advancements in digital technologies have revolutionized processes at the Reliance Jamnagar refinery, streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency across the value chain. Mr Anand also touched upon the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence. Mr. Anand underscored the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on businesses. From optimizing supply chains to predictive maintenance, AI is reshaping how companies like Reliance Industries manage their operations, ensuring higher productivity and reduced downtime. Discussing Reliance Industries’ diversified business segments, including energy, materials, retail, media, and digital services (Jio), Mr. Anand highlighted the importance of building robust ecosystems. He highlighted how businesses are offering integrated products and services, to meet evolving customer needs and drive loyalty in competitive markets.

Mr. Anand listed two mantras to problem-solving: first, active listening. In the age of information overload, listening to other people is nothing short of a superpower. A business can only thrive by listening to customers, employees, and stakeholders. The second mantra is to fall in love with the problem. Everyone is eager to provide a solution. But by falling in love with the problem, we can assess each aspect of the issue and come up with insights to navigate the challenge. On the second day, the students working in teams showcased their problem-solving skills in the fields of Agriculture, Women empowerment, and the education sector.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing immense gratitude to Mr. Anand for sharing his wisdom and insights with XLRI students.
