West Bengal, India: On the occasion of the 18th Annual Alumni Meet of IIT Kharagpur, Prof. Virendra Kumar Tewari along with Prof. Damodar Acharya, Distinguished Alumnus and Former Director of IIT Kharagpur and Commander V K Jaitly, Distinguished Alumnus and Ex-Indian Navy in the presence of the members of IIT KGP Alumni Foundation, India, inaugurated 160 fully equipped General Ward Beds, 90 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Beds, and 10 Child Crib Carriers on 12th March 2022 at Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Hospital. One of our prestigious alumni, Mr. Arjun Malhotra, Industrialist and Co-founder of the HCL group, donated 44 of the ICU beds.

Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Hospital at IIT Kharagpur is a state-of-the art technology platform which provides clinical services across all Specialties and Super-Specialties. Prof. V K Tewari, Director, IIT Kharagpur addressed the gathering and outlined the future roadmap for the hospital. He reiterated IIT Kharagpur’s vision and mission which is to provide world-class healthcare at affordable costs to the community in and around Kharagpur with more prominence on Medical Sciences and Medical Engineering. He thanked all the alumni worldwide for donating and standing by their commitment to facilitate the development of the hospital and requested all to keep on supporting generously to this great humanitarian cause, making it one of the best in the country.
