WeThePlanet is focused on becoming an exponential organization that catalyzes global leaders to make the impossible possible. Kunal Sood, founder, has brought the youth and the elders, left and right, women and men, abled and disabled to unite in action as global citizens to reimagine our approach to the planet, people, peace, prosperity, and partnership and positively impact a billion lives over the next decade.
On September 21st, 2019 at the United Nations Head Quarters in New York, We The Planet was inaugurated by H.E. Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, 74th President of the United Nations General Assembly. Both Kunal Sood and Laura Muranaka have been hosting high level global summits regularly ever since to inspire, unite and support high impact philanthropists, entrepreneurs, innovators and artists such as Susan Rockefeller, Kajol Devgan, Shekhar Kapur, Deepak Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra.
The #WeThePlanet Pledge created by Sood and Muranaka and signed by H.E. Thomas Remengesau Jr., President of Palau on September 23, 2019 is designed to protect all life on land and under the sea in order to usher in a new era global prosperity and planetary flourishing through finding solutions using science, innovation and technology to solve for our grand global challenges.
Kunal believes, “effective leaders are known for their character strengths and deep understanding of the problem at hand.” His definition for successful sustainability leaders is those who are problem solvers at their core and cultivate a mindset that sets them apart from others. Their ability to transform themselves and their surroundings to embody both the organizational values and culture are based on their ability to create not just a sustainable organization but an exponential one. He/She who guides business strategies so as to make them beneficial for the society and the environment and are able to make a strong case for sustainability to help the organization redesign their business model, products and services accordingly, are successful in the long run. If they can align their stakeholders as much as they can align the bottom-line workers with the sustainable development goals, they have already become an exponential leader that lives their values in action while achieving all the of sustainable developmental goals.
We The Planet has a team of exponential leaders that are independent, highly motivated and well trained in our area of expertise. The culture at the company is really one of self-reliance as well as having each other’s backs when it comes to getting the show on the road or online. Amidst the COVID-19 crisis, the organization had to pivot their entire business model to a virtual digital space to welcome the new normal. The organization has created conditions for their employees to flourish and thrive without fear or favor to create an extraordinary work culture and environment that transforms ourselves and the world for the better.
Kunal believes in the power of women leading the world as he is what he is today because of the first woman in his life, his mother. He says, “I believe in the power of women as a force for good, because my mother, Rupa Sood, has played a big role in my life’s work and journey. She would always say that the heroes’ journey begins in the womb. Her love for humanity and open heart translates to how she raised me as a child to always believe in making the impossible possible.”
Leaders like Kunal Sood are working towards making life better on planet Earth. Since it is precious to us, what we do to protect it matters the most. It should start with us, our homes, our society, and our environment. This is the kind of effort we need here and now. We must become heroes embark on a journey to protect and serve the future of our planet.
