Mumbai, 03 January 2024: Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), under Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), has announced the Recruitment of Scientific Officer (Group A) posts through OCES & DGFS schemes 2025 and DDFS-2025 doctoral academic programmes.
OCES/DGFS-2025 recruitment programme: It is a Recruitment programme for recruitment as Scientific Officers in DAE after successful completion of One Year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates for the year 2025-2026 (OCES-2025) to be conducted at the BARC Training Schools. Few of the candidates selected for OCES programme will be offered for Two-Year DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates for the years 2025-2027 (DGFS-2025). Under this scheme, Engineering Graduates who have excelled in the Selection Interviews for the BARC Training Schools’ programmes and who have also independently secured admission for M. Tech. in DGFS Institutes (IIT Bombay & IIT Madras) in the same academic year in which they are selected for OCES are paid stipend and tuition fee to pursue a M. Tech. degree while retaining their employment in DAE.
DDFS-2025 doctoral academic programme: It is a Doctoral academic programme of DAE for Engineering Postgraduates for Admission to DAE Doctoral Fellowship Scheme (DDFS) for pursuing Ph.D. under the aegis of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) a Deemed to be University. The selected students will be admitted to one of the Constituent Institutions (BARC Mumbai, IGCAR Kalpakkam, IPR Gandhinagar and VECC Kolkata) of HBNI for perusing the Ph.D.

Online Examination will be conducted 08 & 09 March, 2025 in each of the eight Engineering disciplines OCES discipline (Codes 21 – 28) and four Science disciplines OCES discipline (Codes 41, 42, 43 and 45) in more than forty cities spread across India.

Selection Procedure:
Selection to OCES/DGFS-2025 programme is a two-step process: Screening to short-list candidates followed by Selection Interviews of the short-listed candidates.
There is a separate two stage selection process ( 1. screening- on the basis of online exam/ GATE Score/ CEBS or NISER CGPA score & 2. Selection Interview) for each of the Exam disciplines. The Table-1a and Table-1b contains exam disciplines and details of allowable qualifying degree & allowable GATE paper/subject along with training scheme/schemes which may be allotted to selected candidates.
Screening for Selection Interviews is based on three alternative screening channels/ options :
- On the basis of Online Examination
- On the basis of GATE score
- On the basis of CGPA score of CEBS/ NISER
Stipend and Allowances during Training:
OCES TSOs are paid a stipend of ₹ 74,000 per month during the period of their Training and
a one- time book allowance of ₹ 30,000. DGFS Fellows are paid a stipend of ₹ 74,000 per
month for two years and reimbursed the tuition fee for M.Tech. and are additionally paid a
one-time Contingency Grant of ₹ 60,000 per annum for 2 years to meet M.Tech. project
related expenses along with additional funding up to a sum of ₹ 4,00,000 under the BRNS Fast
Track Project scheme to purchase equipment/consumables deemed necessary for completion
of M.Tech. project, as per actual paid.
