New Delhi, 24 July 2021: A total number of 6,334 faculty posts are lying vacant in Central Universities as against sanctioned teaching posts of 19,355.
University of Delhi has highest number of vacant faculty posts -846 against sanctioned posts of 1706. Jawaharlal Nehru University, Dr. Hari Singh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Central University of Haryana, Central University Of Odisha are other CUs where highest number of teaching posts are vacant.

- Central University of Kashmir – 114 Vacant Faculty Posts
- Central University of Haryana – 125 Vacant Faculty Posts

- Indira Gandhi National Open University -198 Vacant Faculty Posts
Answering a query from Shri Neeraj Shekhar, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has informed about the vacant teaching and non-teaching posts. The Minister said that arising of vacancies and filling up is a continuous process.
Central University of Andhra Pradesh and Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh don’t have any sanctioned post.
