Mumbai: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, the popularly known as GATE, is one of the toughest competitive entrance tests in India. More than nine lakh graduate engineering students appear the test each year. The use of GATE score card can be broadly divided three parts: MTech (some cases PhD ) Admission in Higher education at IITs, IISc, NITs, CFTIs; employment opportunities at leading PSUs for Graduate Engineers; and Financial Assistance/Fellowships supported by Ministry of HRD and other government agencies.
Over the last few years, GATE score is also being used as one of the criteria for recruitment in Government Organizations such as Cabinet Secretariat, and National/State Public Sector Undertakings in India. Nearly more than 40 PSUs (both Nation & State) have used GATE results of 2017 for hiring graduate engineers. For 2018, PSUs have already started notifying their recruitment plan through GATE 2018.
Till date (14 Sept 2017), more than seven PSUs have already released their notification for hiring Graduate Engineers in various disciplines via GATE 2018 score card: Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP); Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL); NTPC Ltd ; Power Grid Corporation of India Limited; Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL); Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL); and THDC India Limited.

On other hand, many prominent central PSU are expected soon to notify their recruitment plans to hire graduate engineers through GATE 2018. These PSUs or government organizations include: BHEL, BEL, BARC, BSNL, BEML, CEL, CONCOR, GAIL, HAL, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd, NALCO, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited, and others.
Here it can be informed that Airports Authority of India (AAI), a Government of India Public Sector Enterprise, has released recruitment notification to appoint Junior Executive (Engineering). The recruitment will be based on GATE 2016 score. The total number of posts is 200: Junior Executive (Engineering- Civil)- 50 Posts; Junior Executive (Engineering- Electrical)- 50 ; Junior Executive (Electronics)- 100 posts.
Important Dates for GATE 2018 Examination:
Starting Date of Online Application Form: 1 September 2017 (Friday)
Closing Date of Application Form: 5 October 2017 (Thursday)
Date of Examination: 3rd 4th 10th and 11th February 2018
