Kolkata, 29 October 2022: Satyendra Nath Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences (SNBNCBS), an autonomous research institute dedicated to basic research in mathematics sciences under the Department of Science and Technology of Government of India, has announced recruitment of Faculty Posts. These posts are available at the following levels: Associate Professors and Assistant Professors.
Pay Scale:
- Assistant Professor with Pay Level-12
- Associate Professor with Pay Level-13
The following research areas will be given preferences for faculty recruitment:
- Experimental Optics: Classical and/or Quantum Optics;
- Machine Learning and its Applications in Astrophysics/Materials
Science/Biological Systems;
- Single-molecule Spectroscopy experiments;
- High Energy Physics Experiment/Theory.

Qualification required:
Minimum Qualification (for all faculty positions): Ph. D. with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch, with a very good academic record throughout (also see in Notes below). Successful applicants after joining are expected to carry out independent research and guide Ph. D. students. He / she are expected to publish high quality research papers in peer -reviewed journals.
Associate Professor: Not exceeding 45 years of age (as on 15.12.2022) with five years’ teaching and / or research experience of which at least two years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent. Past records of securing extramural funding and supervising postgraduate students are desirable.
Assistant Professor: Not exceeding 40 years of age (as on 15.12.2022) and having postdoctoral experience of at least three years.
The incumbents are expected to carry out independent research and guide Ph.D. students. He is expected to publish high quality research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
