New Delhi, 22 January 2023: The closing date for submission of application of UGC–NET (December 2022) cycle has been extended.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the new closing date for Online Submission of Application has been extended to 21 -23 January 2023 (up to 05.00PM).
The date for Successful Final Transaction of Application Fees is extended to 23 January 2023 (up to 11.50 PM).
In a public notice the NTA said it is in receipt of various representations from the candidates to extend the last date for submission of online application form for UGC NET December 2022, as they could not upload the photo/documents and could not make payment of requisite application fee due to heavy rush on the last date.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct UGC-NET December 2022 for ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ and eligibility for ‘Assistant Professor’ in 83 subjects in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
The NTA has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the task of conducting UGC-NET, which is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges.
Revised Key Dates:
Submission of Online Application Form – 21 -23 January 2023 (up to 05.00PM).
Last date for submission of Examination fee (through Credit Card/ Debit Card/Net Banking /UPI : 23 January 2023 (up to 11.50 PM).

December 2021 and June 2022 Cycle: In the UGC-NET December 2021 and June 2022 Cycle (merged cycles), a total no. of 544485 Candidates appeared out of which 43246 Candidates qualified eligibility for Assistant Professor while 8955 Candidates are declared qualified for JRF & eligible for Assistant Professor.
As per the UGC policy, 6% of those candidates who appear in both the papers and obtain minimum qualifying marks in aggregate of both the papers are declared NET qualified. The slots of JRFs of both UGC-NET December 2021 & June 2022 cycles have been merged, while the methodology for Subject wise cum Category-wise allocation of JRFs remains unchanged.
UGC-NET December 2020 & June 2021 (merged cycles):
In the UGC-NET December 2020 & June 2021 (merged cycles) was conducted by NTA in 3 Phases panning over 18 days at 837 centres in 239 cities across the country. Phase I was conducted between 20 November 2021 to 05 December 2021, Phase II was conducted between 24 December to 27 December 2021 and Phase III was held on 04 January and 05 January 2022.
A total of 12.66 Lakh candidates had registered for the previous merged cycle of the test. More than 6.71 lakh candidates appeared the test.
