Vadodara: The 12th Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) will be held on 27 August 2017 (Sunday) for determining the Eligibility of Gujarat state’s candidates for Assistant Professor in universities and colleges of Gujarat State. The Online Registration has commenced from 29 April 2017. The last day for Online Application and Bank Challan Generation is 08 June 2017 (till – evening 06.00 hrs) while last day for fee collection is 09 June 2017.
On behalf of Gujarat state, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, the Nodal Agency is holding of the 12th Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET). GSET will be conducted in 23 subjects at six Centres in Gujarat. The candidates who qualify the Gujarat State Eligibility Test for eligibility for Assistant Professor will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned Universities / Colleges / State Government of Gujarat State, as the case may be.
The Candidates of Gujarat State belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Physically Handicapped (PH) / Visually Handicapped (VH) /Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non-creamy layer) as per the central list of Other Backward Classes available on National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), Government of India website : www.ncbc.nic.in, will be given such special concessions as may be decided by the Agency.
The candidates of other States, i.e. other than Gujarat State, belonging to reserved category shall be treated as General category candidates.
Eligibility Conditions:
Only those candidates are eligible to appear in the GSET who have completed / are studying in the final year or semester of a UGC specified Master’s degree.
Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (General) (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Sciences are eligible for GSET Examination. The Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer / Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Physically Handicapped (PH)/ Visually Handicapped (VH) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for GSET Examination.
Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing in the final year / semster at the qualifying Master’s degree examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for GSET Examination. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for eligibility of Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer / SC/ST/PH/VH category candidates). Such candidates must complete their Master’s degree examination within two years from the date of declaration of result of GSET Examination with required percentage of marks, failing which they will be treated as disqualified.

The Gujarat SET will be conducted in six cetres: Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Patan and Bhavnagar.
