New Delhi: The Central Research Councils function under Ministry of AYUSH, Govt, of India, has invited applications from PhD Fellowships/Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) for Non-Candidates of Bio-medical sciences related to Life Sciences in Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.

For non-Ayush candidates, there are 30 PhD Fellowships available. The closing date for submission of application is 30 days from the date of publication of this advertisement, which was published in the Employment news paper Dt 13-19 May 2017.

Non-AYUSH candidates who have qualified the concerned National Eligibility Test, namely Joint CSIR-UGC test for JRF and LS(NET); DBT- JRF in Biotechnology: Bio-technology Eligibility Test(BET); ICAR’s AICE-SRF (PGS); and ICMRJRF and willing to undertake research on AYUSH related projects for pursuing PhD programmes in the University/ Institution of their choice. The Central Research Councils function under Ministry of AYUSH, Govt, of India and has the following research institutes: Ayurveda-Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS); Yoga & Naturopathy: Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN);  Unani: Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM); Siddha: Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS); and Homoeopathy: Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH).

The research project shall be in the fields of Biomedical Sciences with emphasis on Life Sciences such as Microbiology, Physiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Human Biology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Zoology, Environment Science, Botany, Veterinary Sciences, Bio-informatics, Pharmacy; Chemical Sciences such as Biochemistry, Chemistry including Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry-Phyto Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Product Chemistry; and Physical Sciences including Biophysics.

The upper age limit for applying for the award of Junior Research Fellowship for Non-AYUSH candidates shall be 28 years as on the date of issue of advertisement in the Employment News. This will be relaxable up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes/OBC, Physically Handicapped (lower locomotive disability only) and female applicants.

Fellowships: The fellowship will be provided for pursuing PhD under a recognised University/Institution of choice by the candidates and during their fellowship, they will be termed as Junior Research Fellows (IRFs) for 2-3 years extendable as Senior Research Fellows (SRF) for 2-3 years, total for maximum 5 years. The monthly emoluments will be Rs. 25,000/- for JRF and Rs. 28,000/- for SRF + House Rent Allowance per month + annual contingency of Rs. 20,000/- to the University/Institution. In addition, the fellow may submit a project proposal to obtain one time Research Contingency Grant-in-Aid up to Rs. 01.00 lakh within 3 months of joining the fellowship subject to approval of the concerned Research Council.
