Bathinda, 02 July 2023: Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, a Central University, has released PhD Admission Notification for July 2023-24 Intake. The total number of vacant PhD seats are 174 across 35 subjects.

Date of issue of advertisement : 19 June 2023

Opening of Portal : 19 June 2023

Last date of receipt of applications : 05 July 2023

Entrance Test : 01 August 2023

Date of Interview : 02 August 2023 to 03 August 2023

Declaration of Result : 05 August 2023

General/OBC candidates: Rs. 1000/-

SC/ST candidates: Rs. 500/-

Eligibility Conditions:

The applicant should have a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with minimum percentage marks, as detailed above in the Academic Programme & Eligibility table at pre page 6 to 10.

  1. The applicants who are NET-JRFs (UGC, CSIR, DBT etc.) will be admitted to Ph.D. programmes as per the university policy. If seats are still vacant, preference shall be given to applicants for admission in the following order:

(i) Applicants with fellowships from external funding agencies (such as those working in projects) who qualified CSIR-UGC-NET, DBT-NET, ICAR-NET, GATE, GPAT, etc.


Applicants who have secured or qualified for funding from external agencies (such as DST-INSPIRE) with no NET qualification provided they qualify in the entrance examination conducted by the university.

(ii) Applicants who have qualified national level tests such CSIR-UGC-NET, DBT-NET, ICAR-NET, GATE, GPAT, etc. If selected, they shall be given UGC Non-NET fellowship of Rs. 8,000, subject to the availability of funds.
