CSIR releases UGC-NET notification; Exam on 16 Dec 2018

New Delhi: Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has released notification for next CSIR-UGC Test. The council will hold the Joint CSIR-UGC Test Tentatively on Sunday 16 December 2018 for determining the eligibility of the Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science & Technology.

A candidate may apply either for ‘JRF-Lectureship’ OR ‘JRF’ only OR ‘Lectureship (LS)’ only. Candidates with M.Sc qualification OR under M.Sc Result Awaited (RA) category shall be eligible for LS subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria as laid down by the UGC.

The Test will be held in the subjects as given under: Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematical Sciences; and Physical Sciences.

Key Dates: The Date of Commencement of On-Line Application is 25 September 2018. The date of close of on-line application is 15 October 2018.

Application Fees: For General  category, the application  fee is Rs. 1000/-.  For Other Backward Classes(OBC)-Non Creamy Layer, the application fee is Rs. 500/-.  For SC/ST/ Persons with Disability (PwD), the application fee is  Rs. 250/-.

Educational Qualification: MSc or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/BTech/BPharma/MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates.

Candidates enrolled for M.Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the closing date of online submission of application form, are also eligible to apply in the above subject under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail the fellowship from the effective date of award.

Age Limit: For JRF (NET) – Maximum 28 years as on 01-07-2018 {upper age limit may be relaxable up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disability(PwD)/ female applicants and 03 years in case of OBC (Non Creamy Layer) applicants}.

For LS (NET): No upper age limit.

The test will be held at 27 Centres spread all over India.
