Pune: Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), Pune, established in 1930 by the Servants of India Society, is the oldest research and training institute in Economics in the country, announces Admission to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Program 2021. Admission to PhD Program for the academic session 2021 will be through an Entrance Test.
Research Areas: Economics/Population Studies / Agricultural Economics/Sociology/Public Policy and Law & Economics.
Entrance Exam will be in a regular pattern. However, the Institute may conduct the same in online mode in case there is no improvement in the COVID 19 outbreak situation and any other restrictions that may be imposed by the Government at that time.
Selection Procedure: GIPE will conduct PhD Entrance Test. The candidates who pass Written Test will be called for interview.
Total Seats: The total number of PhD Seats are 20 for AY 2020-21.
Key Dates: The closing date for submission of application is 11 December 2020. The date of Written Test 09 January 2020. The result of Witten Test will be published on 18 January 2020.
Application Fees: The duly filled in application form should be submitted along with a Demand Draft of Rs.3000/- for Open and OBC candidates (Rs.1500/- for reserved category candidates i.e. SC, ST, DTNT and VJNT) drawn in favour of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, payable at Pune
Eligibility Conditions: Master’s Degree in Economics/Agricultural Economics/Population Studies/Law and Economics/Public Policy/Sociology with at least 55 percent marks ((50 percent for reserved category candidates i.e. SC/ST/OBC/VJNT/DTNT) from a recognized University/Institute.
Exemption from Written Test: Candidates who have obtained (a) MPhil Degree of a recognized University through regular and not distance mode, (b) and those who have qualified at UGC JRF/NET/SET examination shall be exempted from Written Test and shall qualify for interview.
