Bangalore, 30 October 2021: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore, second Top Ranker in BSchools in India, has already opened application portal for PhD Admission 2022. PhD Admission is available in 10 subjects related to Management, Economics and Entrepreneurship.
There is no tuition fee for PhD students. Additionally, Doctoral research scholars will receive a stipend of Rs 35,000 per month for up to five years to cover their living expenses.

The deadline for submission of fully completed applications is 19 January 2022 (5:00 p.m. IST).

IIMB Test/Area Tests/Interviews will be conducted online or face-to-face depending upon the health advisory issued by the authorities at that time.
Research Areas: Decision Sciences, Economics & Social Sciences, Entrepreneurship, Finance & Accounting, Information Systems, Marketing, Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management, Production & Operations Management, Public Policy, and Strategy.
Candidates can apply to a maximum of two areas of specialization.

Candidates should have
a) A Master’s Degree (obtained after completing bachelor’s degree) or a 5 year Integrated Master’s Degree (obtained after completing higher secondary schooling in 10+2 pattern) in any discipline (OR) Post Graduate Diploma (2 years) with at least 55* percent marks in the bachelor’s as well in the master’s degrees/PG Diploma (*50 percent marks for SC, ST and PwD categories).

b) Professional qualification – CA, ICWA, CS (with at least 50*percent marks) with B.com / Degree (*45 percent marks for SC, ST and PwD categories).

c) A 4 year / 8 semesters Bachelor’s degree with at least 6.5 CGPA or equivalent marks (*6.0 CGPA for SC, ST and PwD categories).
Candidates who are in the final year of the qualifying Programmes that would make them eligible can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they submit a certificate (latest by the date of registration to the PhD 2022 programme) from the Principal/ Head of the Department / Registrar or Director of the University / Institute stating that they have appeared for the examinations (including practical examinations) in all the subjects required for obtaining the Master’s / Bachelor’s degree / equivalent qualification. Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the marks sheet and the certificate of having passed the Master’s / Bachelor’s degree / equivalent qualification referred to in the certificate issued by Principal / Registrar of their college / Institute. The deadline for submission of marks sheet and the Certificate is December 31, 2022.

Candidates require a valid test score, from any one of the acceptable tests to the area(s) of specialization they are applying to, as shown in the following table.

Except for those opting for IIMB Test, all other candidates should mandatorily provide the test score, which should be valid as on January 19, 2022, while submitting the application.
Applicants opting to take the IIMB Test should choose this option in the application. IIMB Test will conducted by IIMB on February 06, 2022 at Bangalore, Kozhikode and Kashipur.
Duration of the Programme:
Students are expected to complete the doctoral programme within 5 years of registering for the programme.
Selection: Based on the information provided by the applicants, candidates will be shortlisted (on the recommendation of the respective areas) and invited for an area specific written test and / or interview (see PhD 2022 Area wise Admission Process for details). The mode of conducting the Area specific written test and Interview i.e either Online / In-person will be notified/intimated well ahead of the process.
Interviews are expected to be held during second week of April 2022 (tentatively).
Candidates will be admitted to the programme based on a combination of multiple parameters, as also specified by the respective areas. Parameters may include applicant’s performance in GMAT, GRE, CAT, GATE, JRF (NET) score, or IIMB Test (as applicable), past academic performance, work experience, area specific test and / or interview performance etc.
