Bangalore, 24 September 2022: Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, India’s top ranked Research University,  Mid Year Admission 2022 for (i) Research (Ph D) Programmes and (ii) Ph D – External Registration Programme (ERP).

Key Dates:

Website opens for on-line submission of applications – 01 October 2022

Last date for online submission of applications (website closes – 23:59 hours of 31 October 2021) – 31 October 2022

Date of Interview 21 – 25 November 2022

Commencement of session 02 January 2023

Scholarships:   Students are awarded scholarships/fellowships from the date of joining the Institute. The value of the scholarship/fellowship per month for students enrolled in  different programmes of the Institute is as given below.

Ph.D.     JRF – Rs. 31000/ SRF – Rs. 35000

Research Areas for including PhD-ERP:  

Ph D in Science Faculty: Ecological Sciences, Inorganic & Physical Chemistry, Mathematics, Molecular Reproduction, Development & Genetics, Organic Chemistry, Physics, and Solid State & Structural Chemistry.

Ph D in Engineering Faculty: Chemical Engineering, Computer Science & Automation, Computational and Data Sciences, Electrical Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Systems Engineering, Instrumentation & Applied Physics, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nano Science & Engineering, Product Design and Manufacturing and Sustainable Technologies.

Ph D in Interdisciplinary areas: Biosystems Science and Engineering (offered by Centre for Biosystems Science and Engineering), Brain and Artificial Intelligence (offered by Brain, Computation, and Data Science group), Energy-[Ph D- ERP only] (offered by Interdisciplinary Centre for Energy Research), Cyber Physical Systems (offered by Robert Bosch Centre for Physical Systems).

Selection procedure for PhD: Selection procedure: Candidates are shortlisted for an interview based on their performance in the National Entrance Test and/or academic performance.

The selection is based on the performance in the interview (in some of the departments, an aptitude test/preliminary interview will precede the interview/final interview).

Note: Candidates who were called for the interview held in June 2022 in any one of the above mentioned departments are also eligible to apply again.
