Mumbai, 28 August 2021: In India there are 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). All IITs offer PhD programmes and admit students in two sessions: Autumn (June-July) and Spring December-January). These institutes are popular destination for PhD aspirants as IITs offer Institute Fellowships to scholars.
The PhD Admission process for Spring Session or Semester (January 2022) will commence soon. IITs will start notifying their Admission process in coming days for coming semester.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, an Institute of National Importance, will release PhD Admission notification for Spring Semester 2021-22 next week.

Research Assistantship (RA): A candidate, selected for the Ph.D. Programme, at IIT Bombay will be eligible for the financial support under the RA category subject to the fulfilment of criteria.
The assistantship is payable for a maximum duration of 5 years or up to the thesis submission, whichever is earlier. The monthly rate of assistantship is Rs. 35,000/ for the first 2 years and enhanced rate of Rs. 39,000/ for the remaining period.
Total PhD Seats: The sanctioned strength for PhD Programme for the year 2021-22 is 431.
