Gandhinagar, 04 February 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar, an Institute of National Importance, has Announced Admission for Start Early PhD for the academic year 2021-22. The institute invites applications from eligible BTech students for its Start Early PhD progarmme beginning in July 2021.
Institute Fellowships are offered to scholars @ Rs 41,000 Per Month for candidates with GATE Score Qualified and @ 31,000 Per Month for Others.
Start Early PhD: This full-time residential fellowship is designed to enable budding engineers to gain early entry into the Ph.D. programmes at IIT Gandhinagar. The objective of this programme is to put promising young undergraduate students from diverse disciplines on the fast-track mode of cutting edge technological research in order to prepare them to participate in the process of nation building.
Eligibility Criteria
BTech students from NITs and select colleges who will graduate in 2021 or have graduated in 2020 and are among the top 5 rank holders in the departments at the end of their pre-final year and final year respectively are eligible to apply.
BTech students from IITs who will graduate in 2021 or have graduated in 2020 with a CPI/CGPA of not less than 6.0 at the end of their 3rd year and 4th year respectively are eligible to apply.

The Department Head / Principal / Director of the respective institute will be required to issue a rank certificate supporting each application. No GATE qualification requirement.
Admission Procedure: Admission is generally offered on the basis of an interview, which is supplemented by a written test if necessary. The final selection will be mainly based on academic credentials, written test and/or interview.

Fellowship Benefits:
GATE score is NOT mandatory for admission
Candidates are encouraged to appear for GATE for an enhanced stipend rate
Monthly stipend of Rs 41,000 (For candidates with valid GATE score) or Rs 31,000 (for others)
Travel support up to Rs 2 Lakhs for attending international conferences
Support of up to $12,500 may be considered for research at leading Universities/Labs abroad for a period of upto 6 months
