Bangalore, 05 March 2021:  Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) Bangalore, an Autonomous Institution under Department of Science & Technology – A Deemed University, announces Admission 2021 for PhD, MSc and Integrated PhD Programmes.  Fellowship Benefits are available.

Admission is offered in the following Programmes:

(1) Research Programmes [(PhD / MS(Engg) / MS(Research)]

(2) Master of Science (M.Sc) in Chemistry (Two-year programme)

(3) Integrated PhD Programmes

The Institute has informed that applicants possessing the Educational qualifications including those in the final semester/year of their qualifying examinations but expect to complete all the requirements for award of the degree (like examinations, project dissertations, viva-voce etc.,) by 31 July 2021 and can furnish necessary certificates on or before 31 October 2021 are eligible to apply.

Chemistry and Physics of Materials Unit (CPMU)

 Engineering Mechanics Unit (EMU)

 New Chemistry Unit

 Theoretical Sciences Unit

 Evolutionary and Integrative Biology Unit

 Neuroscience Unit

Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit

Fellowships: All the students joining JNCASR are eligible for a scholarship offered by CSIR/ UGC/ICMR/DBT/INSPIRE/JNCASR depending upon their mode of entry.

Basics Eligibility:  Candidates with an M Sc. or equivalent, B.E/B.Tech or equivalent or M.E/M. Tech or equivalent or B.VSc/M.VSc or MBBS/MD as applicable to individual Units as given in the table below are eligible to apply. They should have at least 50% in their highest University examination and should also have qualified in any one of the National exams: GATE/JEST/GPAT/UGC /CSIR -NET-JRF/ICMR-JRF/DBT-JRF/INSPIRE-JRF. The award certificate of such test should have the validity period for seeking admission to research programme as on 2nd August 2021. ME/ M.Tech or equivalent degree holders are required to qualify in one of the national exams mentioned above, however exceptional candidates without these exams may also be considered.

Selection procedure:  Candidates are short-listed for an interview based on their performance in the national entrance test and /or qualifying degree. The selection is based on the performance in the interview (in some units, an aptitude test/preliminary interview will precede the final interview)

Note: Keeping in view the pandemic situation, the selection procedure may be shifted online if necessary.

Website has opened for on-line submission of applications – 05 March 2021

Last date for submission of applications online (website closes at 23:59 hours on 19 April 2021)- 19 April 2021.

The application fee is Rs.500/- and is non-refundable. Any bank or payment gateway service charges must be borne by the applicant.
