Kolkata: S N Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, a premier autonomous research institute fully aided by the Department of Science and Technology, invites applications for mid- term admission into PhD Programme in Physical, Chemical & Biological Sciences for the Academic Year 2018-19.
The programme is fully residential and the students are offered on-campus accommodation and boarding facilities. The Centre charges no fee for the programme.
Key Dates: On-line Application has started on 27 October 2018 and will close on 18 November 2018.
Eligibility Conditions:
Basic Qualification: MSc/Masters with First Class/Division i.e., minimum 60% in aggregate (55% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) in Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology.
Further Qualifications required in addition to Basic Qualification: CSIR NET-JRF OR UGC-NET-JRF ( Dec 2016, June/Dec 2017, June/Dec 2018) with validity of the award till 01.02.2019) OR INSPIRE – PROVISIONALLY SELECTED and Award Letter to be valid upto 01.02.2019. It is mandatory that the applicants with “Provisional INSPIRE Award” should also have qualified a National Level Test (NLT) like JEST or GATE at the time of application.
- c) There is no age limit for admission. But applicants must not have completed M.Sc before 2016.
Fellowship: In line with the rules of Funding Agency. For the first two years, one will get fellowship as Junior Research Fellow(JRF). Thereafter, upon meeting the eligibility criteria of the funding agency, the students will be upgraded as Senior Research Fellow(SRF). The programme is strictly residential and all students will be provided on campus accommodation.
