Agartala, Tripura, 10 December 2020: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala,  an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications for PhD Programmes for January-July 2021 Academic Session.  Institute Assistantship  benefits are available for Full Time Research scholars.

PhD Admission is available in the following subject groups: (a)Engineering, (b)Science (c) Management  Humanities & Social Sciences Departments.

Key Dates & Application Fees: The last date of online fee payment is 23 December 2020. The last date of submission online application is 23 December 2020. Publication of short listed candidates is 01 January 2021.

Application fee-Rs. 500/ for OP & OBC Candidates and Rs.300/ (SC & ST)

  2. Chemical Engineering
  3. Mechanical Engineering
  4. Electrical Engineering
  5. Management, Humanities & Social Sciences
  6. Computer Science & Engineering
  7. Physics
  8. Production Engineering
  9. Chemistry
  10. Electronics & Communication Engineering
  11. Mathematics
  12. Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering

Eligibility in Brief:

Candidates for admission in PhD programme in Engineering Departments must satisfy one of the following criteria:

I.Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 point grading system or equivalent 65% of marks (CGPA x 10). Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates.

II . Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology from a centrally funded Technical Institute with an excellent academic record and with a CGPA of at least 9.0 out of 10 point grading system or equivalent 90% of marks (CGPA x 10). Candidates must have valid GATE score tenable for the year of admission.

III.  Master’s Degree in relevant science discipline with a good academic record and of exceptional m6rit are eligible for relevant engineering discipline with minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 point grading system or more or at least 65% of marks (CGPA x 10).  Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates.

*** Conversion of CGPA to percentage and vice-versa will not be allowed.

B) Admission to PhD programme in Science Department must satisfy one of the following criteria:-

I.Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and with a minimum of 65% marks (or equivalent or 6.5 CGPA in a 10 point grading system) or 60oh of marks (6.0 CGPA out of 10 point grading system)”{CGPA x 101 with a GATE score or UGC/CSIRNETA{ BHM tenable for the year of admission. Preference will be given to GATE/NET qualified candidates.

II. Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent academic record with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 point grading system or equivalent or 65% of marks (CGPA x 10) . Preference will be candidates. is eligible with a good or given to GATE qualified

III. BTech/ BE, degree from a centrally funded technical institute in India with a minimum CGPA of 9.0 in a 10.0 point scale or equivalent of 90%o (CGPA x 10) of marks with a valid GATE score .

Scholarship Facilities:  Regular Full Time scholars may be awarded Scholarships/Assistantships as per Ministry of Education, former MHRD, Institute guidelines.
